Review

Windows-Doors Configurator - program for setting and editing data for Windows-Doors Dealer. This data includes:

1. Calculating of product price
   1. Calculate by product price-list (by price-list for each product template)
   2. Calculate by sash price-list (calculate multi-sashes products as a sum of price of single-sashes products)
   3. Calculation by components set (profile, hardware and filling)
2. Creation templates of product
3. Accessories
4. Job (mounting and other)

Beginning

At first - you need to define of calculation scheme for product price.  In what type to you price-lists are available?

If you the seller - your manufacturer can provide to you data for calculation of products of some types. More often - it is price-lists on finished products as a table (the first row – width of the product, the first column – height of a product, between them – the prices). This corresponds to the two first calculation schemes: calculation by product price-list and calculation by sash price-list.

If you make the windows and doors myself, you know the price-list of components and then can use the calculation scheme "by components set".

Of course, if you, as the seller, can to be know from the manufacturer the price-list of components. Then you can use calculation scheme "by components set".

I recommend such sequence of data input:

1. Be defined with the calculation scheme. Choose this scheme on the settings
2. If you want, you can clear the test data from the database
3. Choose needed models. Delete, edit, create new template, that you can using in work.
4. In the list of profile systems deleting unused profiles and add needed profiles.
5. Next, for the different calculation schemes has its way:
   1. For price-lists on products, connect each template of product with a profile system, through the price-list
   2. Same can make and for price-list on sashes, only for single-sashes template of product
   3. For calculation scheme "by components set" need inputting the data on profile systems, filling (glazing), and hardware.
6. Next, you can inputting additional settings and parameters. It is:
   1. Markups on the color of profile
   2. Markups on the glass
   3. Markups on the glazing (this only for calc. scheme by price-lists)
   4. Price of lifting on the one floor
   5. Price of insect screens
   6. Markup to the price-list and final markup to the total cost (if needed).
7. Enter the prices for accessories: window sills, drain, slopes and so on. Enter formulas of automatic calculation of charge and calculation of cost of their mounting.
8. Enter price of mounting and price for additions to the installation.
9. Also it is possible to change currency of the program.
10. Test the order calculation in the Windows-Doors Dealer program
11. Your copy of program is ready for working

Calculation scheme

Calculation scheme you can set up on the form "Settings". This form open from main menu "File" -> "Settings".

Can choose one of three scheme.

In 2st scheme you can choose option for rounding cost to the next range, if size of product has between the range in grid of price-list. If this options not choose, the program calculate the cost of product proportionally between nearest ranges.

Cleaning of the database

Go to main menu "File" -> "Settings", choose tab "Clean up".

Can set next options to delete:

• all templates of product
• profile systems, hardware, fillings
• accessories
• customer information

I not recommend deletion of the templates. Best practices it's choose necessary templates and delete unneeded on the main form. Of course, you can delete information about clients and test orders. After cleaning of the database program will be restarted.

Models and templates

Terminology

Model - set up the carcass of product: this is frame and mullion

Template of product built on the model. In template set up parameters of sashes (closed, swivel, dual-open)

Product (in the Windows-Doors Dealer program) built on the template. Finally product can be too change (look example below). Not need create template with separate set of sashes (for example - on the left side, or on the right side). You can set sash placement later in the product editing (in the Windows-Doors Dealer program).

Choose models

At first, defined with model, that you will be using. To choose models - go to main menu "Models" -> "Selection mode". After this action you can see checkboxes on left side near with models. Use them to choose necessary models and uncheck unneeded models. If you uncheck the group of models, then all nodes, included in group, also will be unchecked. Conversely, if you check node in the unchecked group, this group will be selected.

Can select all or unselect all models in the main menu "Models".

On the end of models selecting - go to main menu "Models" -> "Selection mode" again.

Choosing and creating the templates

Determine which templates will you use. You can to modify existing templates, delete unneeded, and add new.

For delete the template: select him, press "Delete" key on the keyboard and confirm deleting.

For create new template select needed model (not select group of models, select node without child node). In the pane of templates double click on template with "+". New template will be created and open in design.

Design of the template

Set swivel or dual-open for sashes. You can do it in context menu or in the table of sashes, below editor of templates.

Profile system

Form opened from main menu "References" -> "Profile systems". Here you can edit list of profiles. That's enough for calculation scheme "by price-lists".  For calc. scheme "by component set" need to enter all parameters on this form.

 

On the left side has list of profile systems.

Deleting profiles. To delete a profile, click the gray square on the left side of name of profiles. The field will be selected. Now press the "Delete" key on the keyboard, and confirm deleting.

Edit name of profile. Click on the profile name.  The field will be selected. Click on it again to edit. Also you can press "F2" key for edit.

Add new profile. Scroll the list to the end. Click on the last field with (*) on the left side. Input profile name and press Enter.

The note: some profiles (for example, "Brusbox") correctly calculated only "by deductible sizes". If to enter their "by dimensions", then lengths of billet of a profile can be calculated incorrectly.

Enter the appropriate dimensions for each of the parameters.

Points 1, 2 and 3. Width of profile it's width before the glazing (on the picture this shown as "a" size).

If you choose in combo box "Type of parameters" - value "by deductible sizes", then you need entering next parameters:

1. sash billet, minus of the frame side
2. sash billet, minus of the mullion
3. mullion billet , minus of the product size
4. frame reinforcement, minus of the billet size
5. sash reinforcement, minus of the billet size
6. mullion reinforcement, minus of the billet size
7. glazing inside sash, minus of the sash size
8. closed sash, minus of the frame side
9. closed sash, minus of the mullion side
10. height of IG Unit for balcony door

Comments

• Point 2. Size "A" on the picture
• Point 3. Size "B" on the picture
• Point 4. Double size "C" on the picture.
• Points 5, 6 and 7. Show, how much reinforcing profile is shorter, than billet of frame, a sash and mullion.
• Point 8. Show, how much size of glazing is shorter, than size of sash. Size "D"  on the picture.
• Point 9. Show, how much size of glazing is shorter, than size of closed sash. Size "C"  on the picture.
• Point 10. Similarly to the point 9, but from the mullion side. Size "E" on the picture.
• Point 11. Is reserved and don"t use.

Entering prices of the profile

For enter the price of profile go to tab "Price".

The tab separated by two blocks. On the left block can choose assignment of profile (door, window, balcony). After checking assignment on the right block show table for price for frame, mullion and sash. Price includes the aggregate of: pvc-profile, reinforcement, glazing bead and gaskets. Price of mullion also includes two connectors. Enter price for each positions.

Calculate profile price, using the other profile

You can use it, if difference price between two profiles look like as markups. To use this - go to tab "Calculating of price", choose "price by other profile". Choose profile name and enter markups.

Also, is needed, you can input welding price of one seam.

Fillings

If you use calc. scheme "by price-lists", then skip this section.

Form opened from main menu "References" -> "Fillings".

On the left side you can edit list of fillings. On the right side - square and prices.

Deleting filling. To delete a filling, click the gray square on the left side of name of fillings. The field will be selected. Now press the "Delete" key on the keyboard, and confirm deleting.

Edit name of filling. Click on the filling name.  The field will be selected. Click on it again to edit. Also you can press "F2" key for edit.

Add new filling. Scroll the list to the end. Click on the last field with (*) on the left side. Input fillings name and press Enter.

Price of fillings

Price of filling can depends of square of filling, or not. You can input one on more rows in two column: "Square to" and "Price". Last row in column "Square to" must contains large value, more than production maximum. Its need for calculating square of filling not out of range.

Import for Excel. List of squares and prices can import from Excel. Select in worksheet two columns and needed rows, where includes data, go back to program and click "Import".

Editing of price-list. Edit, delete and add new row look like as on the list of filling. First column "Square from" fill automatically, by previous row, from the column "Square to".

Hardware

If you use calc. scheme "by price-lists", then skip this section.

Form opened from main menu "References" -> "Hardware".

On this form you can input price of hardware set, for each assignment, type of opening and name of hardware.

On the left side of form can settings: assignment, type of opening and choose name of hardware

List of hardware

Deleting hardware. To delete a hardware, click the gray square on the left side of name of hardware. The field will be selected. Now press the "Delete" key on the keyboard, and confirm deleting.

Edit name of hardware. Click on the hardware name.  The field will be selected. Click on it again to edit. Also you can press "F2" key for edit.

Add new hardware. Scroll the list to the end. Click on the last field with (*) on the left side. Input hardware name and press Enter.

Price of hardware set

There are two ways of input of the price-list: manually and import from Excel.

Import from Excel

You can import price-list from Excel. First, choose the assignment, type of opening and mark. Then select on the Excel worksheet appropriate number of rows and columns that contain data including size. Go back to program and click "Import".

Input data manually

You may need to manually enter data in two cases:

• If the price for hardware set does not depend on the size of (need to enter just one number)
• If it is not possible to import.

Enter a single value price per hardware set . In block "Create a new table", click "Create", without specifying widths and heights. Then in the editing section of the price-list will be one cell labeled "any width" and "any height". Enter the number and press Enter.

Enter Price table accessories. In block "Create a new table" enter widths and heights of sash. You need to enter only the size of the "to", size "from" appears automatically. Click "Create". In block "price for hardware" appears the table, in which you can enter a price.

Price-list of product

If you use calc. scheme "by component set", then skip this section.

After you have edited the list of profiles, you can begin typing price-lists. On the main form, select the template, profile, and then click to open the form input prices (as shown). Also it can be opened when you double-clicks on the desired profile in the profile list.

The form "Prices" will be open. Originally it opens a blank, as shown in the picture.

There are two ways to enter data:

• Import price-list from Excel  
• Manually, if you have not price-list in Excel format (or not have Excel, or have Excel Starter Edition)

Import form Excel

There are two ways to import: from the first range of worksheet or selection ranges. If table of price-list beginning from first ("A1") range, choose first way, otherwise - then select in worksheet all table includes sizes, go back to program and click "Import".

The note: table can has in size range two type of value: simple size ("1000") or two size ("1001-1050"). In second case will be imported the first number. Second number of size it's number of size in next range. Table of price not must be includes hidden rows or column, otherwise you must to remove hidden columns and rows from the table before import.

After editing of price - click "Ok". Program save price-list into database.

Export into Excel

Price-list can be export back to Excel. Click "Export". Windows-Doors will insert price-list into new worksheet of active workbook.
 

Enter price-list manually

Type minimum and maximum values for width and height and step of size. Click "Create table" and enter price-list manually

After editing of price click "Ok". Program save price-list into database.

Advice. If you want to enter a price table manually with an uneven step sizes, create it in Excel, and then import.

Product features, markup and job

Form opened from main menu "References" -> "Product features, markup and job".

On the left side exists list of parameters, on the right side - values of parameters. Below - parameters description and rules of data inputting. Choose parameter on left side and enter values on the right.

List of parameters can import from Excel. Select in worksheet two columns and needed rows, where includes data, go back to program and click "Import" button.

Accessories

Form opened from main menu "References" -> "Accessories".

On the left side exists list of accessories groups, on the right side - accessories list. Below - calculation of charge and mounting price.

In groups of accessories you can add and delete group (excluding already existing).

Deleting group. To delete a group, click the gray square on the left side of name of group. The field will be selected. Now press the "Delete" key on the keyboard, and confirm deleting.

Edit name of group. Click on the group name.  The field will be selected. Click on it again to edit. Also you can press "F2" key for edit.

Add new group. Scroll the list to the end. Click on the last field with (*) on the left side. Input group name and press Enter.

List of accessories

Enter the name of accessories and price of sale. Other two field not used in the calculation. If you import price-list without markup, then you can import data into "cost value" column. Next, enter the markup into field "markup" (for example, "1.2" to increase it to "20%") and click "Assign". The sale price will be recalculated.

Deleting accessory. To delete a accessory, click the gray square on the left side of name of group. The field will be selected. Now press the "Delete" key on the keyboard, and confirm deleting.

Edit name of accessory. Click on the accessory name.  The field will be selected. Click on it again to edit. Also you can press "F2" key for edit.

Add new accessory. Scroll the list to the end. Click on the last field with (*) on the left side. Input accessory name and press Enter.

Import list of accessories

Choose group. Go to Excel, select 4 columns (it is number of columns in the accessories list) and needed count of rows. Go back to the Windows-Doors and click "Import". If list of accessories is not empty, then program ask you: overwrite it or add to list below.

Calculating of charge

For each group of accessories you can set the automatically calculating of charge. This calculated by:

• Width
• Height
• Perimeter
• Perimeter without width
• Square

The program takes these values from the product to which the accessory belongs. Can be multiplied by a factor, or add to the size of some amount. For example, calculated the length of a window sill it is necessary to take the width of the product and add to it 0.3m. To do this, select the combo box "charge depends on:" the width of a product, the factor ("*") to write a "1" and the summand ("+")  write "0.3" (is given in meters).

If you do not want the program will calculate charge of a accessory, enter "0" in both fields.

Calculate price of mounting

For example, the installation of any component stands $10/m. Plus, regardless of the length, mounting costs still $5. Then in calculating of mounting: in factor ("*") write "10" and in the summand ("+") write "5" (is in currency).

If you do not want the program will calculate mounting of a accessory, enter "0" in both fields.

Mounting

Form opened from main menu "References" -> "Mounting".

To calculate base mounting price has two way: as percent of product price or fixed price by square meter. Choose and write value (percent or price by sq. m.)

Addition to the installation

To determine more accurately the cost of mounting - you can use addition to the installation (this is necessary for different types of mounting, when mounting in different types of buildings, and so on. When calculating your order you can choose several options at once (in the Window-Door Dealer).

Price of an option is calculated as the factor of the base cost of mounting and an additional to the price (like as in a previous form). Check in the list of options indicates that this option is shown in the list in the Window-Door Dealer.

Import list of options. Go to Excel, select 3 columns (it is number of columns in the options list, excludes checkboxes) and needed count of rows. Go back to the Windows-Doors and click "Import". If list of options is not empty, then program ask you: overwrite it or add to list below.

Other settings

This is "Currency" and "Units of measurement". Most often there is no need to edit.

Currency

Form opened from main menu "References" -> "Currency".

Here you can add your own currency and select currency that will be used in the program. Add a new currency like as in the above lists.

Unit of measure

Form opened from main menu "References" -> "Unit of measure".

List of the units of measurement used in the program. Most likely, you do not need to edit them. However, this possibility exists (like as in the above lists).

Test

The set up is finished. Open the Window-Door Dealer and check the calculation of products with accessories and mounting.

After the test - program is ready to work and to calculation of orders.
